The MOAA Central Ohio Chapter was first organized as a club in 1953 by COL Seth C. Dildine under the name of the Retired Officers Club of Central Ohio. The first President was MGEN Carlos Brewer. In January 2003, the club’s name was changed to the Military Officers Club of Central Ohio (MOCCO) to coincide with TROA’s (The Retired Officers Assn.) name change to MOAA (Military Officers Assn. of America). Further name changes occurred in 2010 and 2014 to reflect it’s connection to national MOAA as an Affiliate Chapter. The Chapter was incorporated with the State of Ohio in 2014 and operates as a federal 501C (4) entity under it’s current name, MOAA Central Ohio Chapter.
The Chapter is open to all commissioned and warrant officers of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration who are Active, Retired or Former officers. Additionally, widow/widowers (surviving spouses) of any deceased individuals who, if living, would be eligible for membership are also eligible to join. The Chapter’s Executive Board currently meets the first Wednesday of the month at DSCC Building 11 at 12 noon. The general membership meets the second Friday of each month at the Berwick Party House, 3250 Refugee Road, Columbus, OH 43232.
Our current membership, which includes paid members, spouses (supporting members), and surviving spouses now stands at over 375.
