The Franklin County Municipal Court has a Military and Veteran Service Specialized (MAVS) Docket. This docket provides an intensive probation program for veterans who become ensnared in the justice system at the misdemeanor level. There are several facets to the MAVS docket: abstention from alcohol and drugs, with required attendance at AA or NA, regular attendance at court sessions on Monday afternoons for personal interaction with required physical and mental health examinations, with follow-up treatment or counseling for any diagnosed difficulties. In efforts to restore these veterans to the community as healthy productive citizens a mentor program, called V2V (Veteran to Veteran). Many veterans need to talk about their experiences, past or present, is best met through another veteran, a mentor, who may have had similar experiences.
